User Over Quota / Internal 500 Internal Server Error

This article mostly pertains to clients who use the Your Mail Only account type to run their email, but may be relevant to other users.

If you receive the "User over quota - 500 Internal System Error" while attempting to log in under Webmail, this is because your accounts quota limits have been reached.

Please read this article in full before contacting the Support department (by logging into your Client Area and creating a support ticket.

Quota limits pertain to the physical data storage for your account on the server. This may include website content (if you have a web hosting account) or just physical email storage, as website and email data share the same quota space.

The system will email you periodically warning you when your quota limits are nearing their capacity; its a good idea to look out for these warnings and to pro-actively address the quota limits before it becomes an issue.

If you have a Website Hosting account, you can reduce non-eseential website content by logging into the cPanel, selecting the File Manager icon and navigating to your hosting area to remove non-essential files.
Alternatively, if you are able to access Webmail, you may reduce email from the various folders (Sent items, Deleted Items, Trash, etc).

When the storage area becomes too full, it cannot hold any more information, and the system is unable to write any more data to the log file which needs to be written to as you log in. This causes an unexpected result on the server, resulting in a 500 internal server error.

If your quota is reached, the support department are able to raise your accounts quota limits once to accommodate you being able to log in to your account.
If the account limits are exceeded again while your account is already super-sized, you have out-grown your account and you will be required to upgrade your hosting package or to purchase a space booster addon before support are able to help you log back in.

Account upgrades may be performed by following along with the following knowledgebase article: http://www.your.co.za/clients/knowledgebase.php?action=displayarticle&id=13
