The updating of name-servers needs to be performed by Your.co.za manually - Please ensure that you are logged into your Client Area, and request this update from the Support department by creating a support ticket.
The servers receiving the request for the updated domain need to be correctly configured, or be "authorative" for the domain being pointed to them. In technical terms; zone files need to be created on them.
The changing of name-servers happens over a minimum of a 24 waiting period; this is not to say that the process WILL take 24 hours - It often takes longer.
It is for this reason that prior planning is essential and name-server updates are never "rushed" or "urgent".
Should the new name-servers be incorrectly configured, the update process will fail and will need to be restarted once the 3rd party server configuration has been corrected. This proces happens by means of an automated third party checking system, and we cannot override or bypass the basic requirements of the co.za name-space.
When contacting the technical department of any third party, please make it clear that their name-servers need DNS entries and are required to be able to respond affirmatively for a "reverse look-up" and that simply pointing a domain at name-servers, where there are no records, is not enough when it comes to .co.za domains in particular. Where the third party is a non-South African company; they may fail to grasp this concept, as the legacy co.za system is unique to South Africa.
Additionally, the number of name-servers submitted must match the number of name-servers as configured on the receiving servers. Adding one too many, or one too few name-servers, as per the configuration, will fail the update attempt.
Most 3rd party hosts allow you to add a domain via a control panel as an addon or parked domain, this is usually enough to create the required SOA records on the servers which makes updating name-servers possible.
Please note that we are unable to make name-server updates on weekends where domains have been recently created or for domains which are currently in their billing or renewal cycle.
It is also important to note that where we may provide an email service for domain registration, the changing of name-servers bypasses our mail servers and the provision of email will fall away.
